Nominations now being accepted for Book of Golden Deeds Award

Fort Smith Noon Exchange Club is now accepting nominations for its Book of Golden Deeds Award.

The Book of Golden Deeds Awards is an Exchange Club program that honors a worthy person or group that continuously donates time, talent, and energy to help those in need. The purpose of the Book of Golden Deeds Award is to recognize such unsung heroes for their good deeds. FSNE bestowed its first award in 1942 to George Carney, Sr. Other notable recipients have included the late Fort Smith Mayor Ray Baker, the late Dr. Roger Bost, Charolette Tidwell, and Jerry Glidewell, among others. In 2018, the honor was presented to the long-time Exchangite Dr. R. Cole Goodman.

Citizens can nominate an individual or couple for the honor by completing the Book of Golden Deeds Award Application (see below) and returning it via mail or email. (See address information below.) The nomination deadline is February 15.

The honoree will be selected by committee and announced March 1 at the 77th annual Golden Deeds Banquet, to be held at The Blue Lion at UAFS Downtown in Fort Smith. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the banquet are $30 and can be purchased by calling (479) 462-3667.
